RTI INTERNATIONAL METALS, INC. NAMES
BURKHART, BERKSTRESSER AND KAY TO NEW POSTS
Niles, Ohio RTI International Metals, Inc. (NYSE;RTI) announced three new appointments today.
Richard R. Burkhart (48) has been elected to the newly created position of Group Vice President and will head up RTIs Fabrication and Distribution Group. The Group consists of the Companys businesses that engage in fabricating and distributing products of titanium, other specialty metals, and various steels. The Group includes RTIs recent acquisitions, New Century Metals, Inc. (NCM) and Weld-Tech Engineering Services as well as fabrication and distribution units formerly managed by RMI Titanium Company.
Mr. Burkhart had been half-owner and President of NCM prior to RTIs acquisition on October 1, 1998. He joined NCM in 1992. Prior to that, he directed a number of corporate reorganizations, start-ups and buy-outs in the capital goods, metals and systems integration industries. He has been affiliated with Republic Steel, Quanex Corporation, Pratt & Whitney Company, Data Systems Network Corporation, and Emerald Asset Management. He is a magna cum laude graduate of Dennison University and an honors graduate of Harvard Business School.
Gordon R. Berkstresser (51) has been named to the newly created post of Group Controller. He will be responsible for overseeing accounting and finance matters within Fabrication and Distribution and assisting Mr. Burkhart in the administration of the Group. He will report to Timothy G. Rupert, Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer.
Mr. Berkstresser was most recently Senior Vice President, Finance and Administration for Equitable Resources, Inc. Prior to that he held positions at Aristech Chemical Corporation and USX Corporation. Mr. Berkstresser is an undergraduate of Kent State University and holds a Masters of Science degree in Accounting from Duquesne University. He is a Certified Public Accountant and Adjunct Professor of Accounting at Robert Morris College in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
David W. Kay (50) has been named to the newly created post of Corporate Controller. He will be responsible for overseeing accounting and finance matters within RTIs Titanium Group as well as RTIs public reporting. He reports to Timothy G. Rupert, Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer.
Mr. Kay has been RMIs Controller since 1991. Prior to joining RMI in 1984, he was affiliated with Sharon Steel Corporation and the public accounting firm of Ernst and Ernst. He is a Certified Public Accountant and a graduate of Findlay College in Findlay, Ohio.
RTI International Metals, Inc., headquartered in Niles, Ohio, through its various subsidiaries, manufactures and distributes titanium and specialty metal mill products, extruded shapes, and engineered systems for energy-related markets. The Companys products are used for aerospace, industrial and consumer applications.
