RTI SECURES BAE/EUROFIGHTER CONTRACT IN EUROPE
Niles, Ohio – RTI International Metals, Inc., (NYSE: RTI) announced today that RTI Europe Ltd., an RTI subsidiary, has entered into a new agreement with BAE Systems to provide value-added titanium flat-rolled products for the Eurofighter aircraft through 2009.
The Eurofighter, also known as the Typhoon, is a fighter aircraft produced jointly by four European nations - UK, Germany, Spain and Italy. Production of a second tranche of 254 aircraft is expected to begin shortly. The products RTI will supply include engineered flat-rolled products for use in superplastic-formed and diffusion-bonded parts. The contract increases RTI’s participation in the program, which will be serviced from the Company’s facility in Birmingham, England.
RTI announced last week a new multi-year contract with EADS to supply value-added titanium and parts to its Airbus programs and military projects.
